Every once in a while a film is released that reminds youth workers that we can make a difference: Coach Carter, Stand and Deliver, Renaissance Man… this is one of those films.  If you haven’t seen it, stop by the video store tonight and pick it up.

Anger - Waterboy Movie Clip (May 13, 2008 at 12:01 AM) - Main Point: Can we redirect anger into something good?

Attention Grabber: Movie - The Waterboy, 1998 (Adam Sandler), PG-13 (for language and crude sexual humor - though neither are in these scenes).

In this movie the weakling water boy becomes the star of the football team, popular, and gets the girl in the end, all as a result of tapping into the anger within him and living it out on and off the field.

Saved - movie review (May 13, 2008 at 12:01 AM) - The tagline for this film is “Heaven Help Us!”  I agree . . . but I’m not sure the film does.

I don’t think the creators of “Saved” intended to poke fun at Christianity .

Miracle (May 13, 2008 at 12:01 AM) - Main Point: God is looking for "the right players." Our world tends to look at outward appearance- God looks at the heart. He cares about WHO we are, more than how good looking, talented, rich or famous we are.

Kingdom of Heaven (May 13, 2008 at 12:01 AM) - Let’s face it . . . there is nothing politically correct about the Crusades.  So Kingdom of Heaven took on a daunting task: Try to salvage a hero out of the story of the Crusades.  And from which side?

During the 12th century Crusades, the Christians controlled Jerusalem, and the Muslims wanted it back.  Balian of Ibelin (Orlando Bloom), a young “Christian” blacksmith who had just lost his wife and child, follows his father (Liam Neeson) to war to defend Jerusalem, hoping to earn forgiveness for himself and his wife who was “doomed to

Kicking & Screaming (May 13, 2008 at 12:01 AM) - Kicking and Screaming is Happy Gilmore  meets The Bad News Bears.

Will Ferrell was hilarious.  Nothing intellectual . . . just the typical goofy “Ferrellesque” antics that have elevated his popularity to the “box office draw” he’s become in the last few years.  Whether getting hit in the head with a ball or screaming when he grabs something hot, somehow Farrell does it.  I found myself laughing .

(PD) — Pastor Jerry Johnston describes the upcoming Da Vinci Code movie, starring Hollywood star Tom Hanks and set to premiere May 19, as the biggest attack on the Christian faith this year. "Nothing will come remotely close to it," said Johnston, who pastors the 5,000-member First Family Church in Overland Park, Kan., an affluent suburb of Kansas City. To prepare his congregation for the movie's release, Johnston designed a series of sermons titled A Christian's Response to the Da Vinci Code: All the Fallacies Exposed, starting in March.

INTRO TO THE DISCUSSION:  Dwight L. Moody defines our character as “WHO WE ARE IN THE DARK.”  Some of us live very different lives when certain people are watching.  We might look very good on the surface, but under the surface, we have something to hide.  It’s these areas of our life that we are holding onto that come out when we think no is looking and we discover the true desire of our heart.

At the beginning of Chapter 26 is a movie
