Last week we talked about reaching out and building unity with others ministries in your area. However, sometimes you reach out and they pull back. Why does this happen? 1. Jealousy or fear. Jealous that you may appear like a better youth leader, or have a cooler group. Fear that you might steal some teens. 2. Philosophical differences. Every fellowship has their list of what makes them more "right" than other groups. These non-essentials can get in the way of building relationships. These are not doctrinal issues, but personally created barriers to fellowship. 3. Inward rather than outward focused. A group that is primarily inward focused will have a tougher time unifying with other ministries. Regardless of the reasons, you can't help it if others won't accept a unifying effort. Just keep your spirit open to those who would like to forge fellowship. Have a BLESSED week! Paul & Al P.S. We just added a PowerPoint game section to the membership site. http://www.teenlifeministries.com/downloads.php?a=cat&cid=8 Also, if you're a member and have some games you would like to contribute you can upload them on that same page.

Tip of the Week |
|
NINE BASIC BELIEFS ABOUT YOUTH MINISTRY
1. Students matter to God and warrant our efforts to extend the gospel to them. 2. The gospel of Jesus Christ must be presented in a way that is relevant to the culture of students (Eph. 6:18,19). 3. Evangelism is a process and is best accomplished within the context of relationships. 4. There are various levels of spiritual interest and Christian commitment among students. 5. Effective student ministry is done through the development of real relationships between believers and non-churched students. 6. Student ministry done with excellence reflects God and attracts students. 7. Student ministry is to be reviewed and evaluated for real effectiveness. 8. Student ministry should be built on the team principle--not on the gifts of one individual. 9. Every student, once they become a Christian, is capable of and should be involved in the work of building God's Kingdom. Visit Ryan at www.pastor2youth.com
