Our preacher had a great lesson yesterday on discipleship. He quoted Acts 11:26, "The disciples were first called Christians at Antioch." Then he asked, "Can it be said today that Christians can still be called disciples?" Great question. A disciple follows and imitates the teacher. Eventually becoming like him. He went on to share a few evidences of disciples from John. They strengthened us, so we thought they might strengthen you too. Signs of a True Disciple... 1. "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples." John 8:31 2. "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:35 3. "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." John 15:8 Just about everyone in our group would say they are Christians. Most of the parents involved would say they are Christians. But disciples? The terms should be synonymous. But in today's world you can claim to be a Christian without actually "following him." 1 John 2:6 "Who ever claims him must walk as Jesus did." What are your thoughts about Christianity/discipleship? Godly Goals for the New Year - Luke 2:52 Lesson 2: Growing in Stature
Teaching Tip #1 (Jan 3, 2007 at 7:34 AM) - The Mossy Oak Company says, "It's not a passion, it's an obsession." The same is true while teaching teens.
What Is Love? (Jan 5, 2007 at 6:33 AM) - Love is a word that is often hard to define. You might say you love your grandmother or you love popcorn. To you they mean the same but to someone else is has a different meaning all together.
Daily Bible Readings (Dec 29, 2006 at 8:22 PM) - January 2007 “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.”
January 2006 was a huge sign up month. This is a reminder that all subscriptions are recurring. If you joined in January for one year, your membership will automatically renew on the same date.
