Last night we had a service focusing on the mission trips taken by our church
family this year.
If your fellowship is like ours, then the title "Mission Report Night" can keep
the flock away in droves (or is it herds?). Unless...you plan a great night that
not only reports, but also encourages the church to get involved in missions.
Here are four steps to make your mission report a success...
Step One: Staging. Get all the people who went on the mission trip(s) on stage
the week before the report. Let the church see that real human beings took part
in the effort.
Step Two: Video Clips. Pictures are nice, but video lets people see the condition
and the culture of the mission more clearly.
Step Three: Numbers. Be specific. At our church we had 109 people go on mission
trips this summer. Seven countries were visited. Those numbers communicate volumes
to the church.
Step Four: Stories. Let the missionaries tell personal accounts using the names
of people and places.
Mission reports don't have to be boring; they can be a great tool for your church
to see how the message of Jesus is being taken into all the world.
Have a BLESSED week!
