Tip of the Week - July 5

Tip of the Week - July 5

Spider-Man 2 is now at $180 million. Not bad for a fantasy which most in your group has seen by now if they're not out of the country.

We love to be entertained -and Spidey-2 is entertaining - but there's a huge gulf between entertainment and life change. You've heard, "Great movie!" "Two thumbs up!" Have you heard, "My life will never be the same since seeing Spider-Man"?

The challenge for us in ministry is that we know that if kids don't have a good time they won't be back. If they think youth group is boring they vanish. Let's face it we can't compete with wall crawling and web slinging.

Or can we?

Let's see...

Water walking. Blind seeing. Leper cleansing. Dead raising. Temple clearing. God dying. Stone rolling. And let's not forget that every sin of ours is forgiven and forgotten.

That's entertaining AND life changing.

Have a BLESSED week!

Tip of the Week

I've noticed at times when parents accompany there children on youth outings that they naturally show more concern for their own children than they will for others. The other children see that and Satan uses that to make youth who might not have their parents with them, or not live with their parents or may not be receiving the love at home that they see others receive from their parents feel REJECTED.

When we are on youth outings and we may have youth that parents aren't with them we have to use wisdom in what we say and do. God says "give no place to the devil" so we have to be obedient so that we don't offend anyone and make them feel rejected. The youth is the future of the church and we have a responsibility to show the love of God to our children.
