Part One, Part Two, Part Three

Last week we discussed how once the heart changes, values change. This week we look at behavior changes.

Think about the disciples. Think about their before and after pictures.

Because of the heart change that took place their actions changed. Peter changed from speaking without thinking to speaking under the influence of the Spirit. John changes from a "son of thunder" to "the apostle of love."

Too often we want or demand change without a change of heart. We want behavior to change, but forget the soul.

Jesus makes it clear "Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' " Mark 7:15

If we want behavior to change, it comes from the inside out.

The most powerful change that can take place is the through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that he would not leave us alone, but would send a helper. Romans 8 talks about the Spirit being IN us. That's how real change takes place.

We also give the Spirit room to work through the spiritual disciplines. By encouraging bible study, fasting, prayer, etc. We provide opportunity for growth and change.

Praying for Others (Mar 16, 2007 at 6:00 AM) - Perhaps the two most powerful words in the English language are "I'm sorry." Surely the three most powerful words are "I love you". In my opinion, the four most powerful words are "I'm praying for you."

Just a Thought (Mar 14, 2007 at 5:08 AM) - I was recently asked by one of my student’s if I would answer a few questions for Bible class credit at her school? I agreed and so the process began. As I read through the questions my first thoughts were, “this is going to be a piece of cake” or “I think I can do this pretty quick.”
