Two days a week my wife works with our congregations pre-school program and I get the kids to myself each Tuesday and the grandparents are here on Thursday. I tease her that she gets away from the hustle and bustle of our house to watch other peoples kids! It is on one of my daddy days that I find myself with a few moments to begin this blog.
Of all the jobs I have had, ride operator, park aide, security guard, salesman, IT associate, and even a minister nothing compares to this. My day began with my little girl (who is one) handing me my glasses as if to say, "it is time to get up, daddy." After biscuits, gravy, and scrambled eggs, we moved on to some TV and reading Pokemon names to one of my five year olds.
Like the Psalmist said, "Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." Am I ever blessed.
Sure there are days you want to pull your hair out, I have days like that in dealing with ministry life too. My children have days like that with me, but still yet when the day ends they still set you back by the gentle kiss or the request for one more story, or leaning back on your chest while you gently rock and fall asleep first.
